Hello and welcome to Independent Kitchen!

My ethos is to create healthy wholesome recipes from locally sourced ingredients bought predominantly from independent local businesses. This includes shopping at Farmer’s markets, delis, bakeries, independent food markets and enrolling in local veg box schemes.

I live in the vibrant city of Bristol in South West UK which is an excellent canvas for me to experiment as it has a strong independently focused community, with it’s own currency the Bristol Pound to support the local economy and keep money within the city. According to the New Economics Foundation, each pound spent with a local retailer selling local produce puts twice as much money back into the local economy as a pound spent in a national multiple. I am building up a database of independent businesses within the UK to become a resource for those who want to shop locally but struggle to find what shops are nearby. See my Independents page and get in touch if you have any suggestions of local independent businesses you would like me to map.

Follow me on my journey supporting local independent stores whilst creating healthy recipes from my Independent Kitchen.

If  you wish to use any of my recipes or photography please get in touch at info@independentkitchen.co.uk and don’t forget to link to my site 🙂 Thanks.
